ABOUT ME
Hi! I'm Chandra and I crew Ed when he's racing! We've been together since 2010 when we were both at Imperial College London, and his first ultra was in 2013 with a 50k. In 2014, Ed got on the waiting list for the Thames Path 100, and got given a 48 hour window to say yes or no. I remember I was sat in the front of the 14 bus in London to university when I got the text from him asking me if he should do it, and I was like 'eh! What's the worse that can happen?' Fast forward a few years, 95% of our holidays planned around races, 47 marathon+ distances for Ed (as of August 2018), and well... here we are!
I feel like we've gathered a lot of knowledge of ultra races, and we've come a long way since I sent off Ed with a bagel for 48 miles Round the Rock in Jersey in 2013 (and got offended when he didn't eat it! We also didn't know there'd be cliff paths....) I've had a fair few friends ask for crewing tips. I thought I'd write it down, and if it helps even one runner have a better race because their crew was that little more prepared, then I am happy!
A bit more about me. I am bilingual English/French, speak some Italian and understand Spanish (handy when doing international races!) I'm half Belgian/Mauritian and have lived in 10 different countries. I also hold a PhD in Numerical/Marine Geophysics, so Ed by default just gets a geology lesson about what he's going to run over/through/by. |
